LDE RULES
Competition Format
The actual format for each competition will be decided by the organisers on the day. In order to minimise the effects of time, weather etc competitors may be grouped at the organisers discretion. Depending on the number of entries, competitors should get at least two 'tries' to qualify for the final round. A try will consist of a maximum of 6 balls to be driven within a notified time limit. There are no practice shots from the tee area. Only the longest qualified drive of your try will be measured.
Registration
As you register and pay your entry fee, your name will be added to the Official Entry Sheet.
Golf Equipment
All clubs used must conform to USGA Standards, and are subject to inspection by a staff member of the organising committee. On registration, equipment will be inspected and marked by the organisers. Only equipment thus marked will be eligible for play. Maximum length for drivers limited to 50". See news item for full details.
Weather Conditions
The RE/MAX European Long Drive Championship does not guarantee the weather conditions during competition or that the conditions will remain constant during the competition. Players will be grouped to minimise the effects of weather conditions.
Definition of a Qualified Drive
A "Qualified Drive" must be a minimum of 250 yards (230 metres) for men and 200 yards (180 metres) for ladies that comes to rest within the boundaries of the competition grid, and has not come in contact with the ground or other objects outside the gridlines. A qualified drive cannot land out of play and then come back into play. A drive that does not meet the specified metre line is considered out of play. Bad weather may result in the minimum being lowered.
The Ball
A ball must come to rest within the designated boundaries of the Competition Grid. A ball touching any part of the grid line is considered in play. A ball not reaching the Grid is considered out of play. A ball coming into contact with any obstruction (bunker, water, tree) inside or outside the Grid that does not come to rest in the Grid, is considered out of play. No replays or considerations are permitted.
Measurement of Drives
Drives will be measured from the tee line to the farthest point of the golf ball. Distance will include carry and roll.
In Case of a Tie
If there are (2) or more identical distances recorded, (within 4 cm of another competitors drive, it is deemed a tie), those tied competitors will hit one (1) additional ball to determine the final winning drive, but only if it is for 1st place or last place to qualify. This process will continue until a winner is declared. The hitting order will remain the same as originally registered on the Official Scoresheet or as determined by the organisers.
Amateur or Professional Status
In all cases, R&A Rules of Amateur Status will apply. Any competitor may compete as a professional and accept prize money. Competitors must declare their status prior to any event.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: A Competitor may not revert from professional back to amateur status during the 2006 program.
Golf Etiquette
Proper golf etiquette is required during all levels of competition. At no time will disorderly conduct, abusive language, intoxication and/or possession or use of an illegal substance be tolerated.
Club throwing and deliberate breaking of clubs is strictly forbidden. Players are reminded that swearing in any circumstances will not be tolerated. Violations of this rule will be subject to disciplinary action and forfeiture of all monies paid. The organising committee has the right to refuse service to anyone for the transgressions of this rule.
